I suppose I had better jot down some house-related goals for 2011. It’s kind of comforting that some are a continuation of the realisation of some previous house or garden plans – I feel like I am getting somewhere, however slowly and with however small steps.
I have put these in order of timing/priority:
- Revive front lawn: sister coming back from UK, lawn required for large scale sister-related entertaining
Buy and plant 4 pots of bamboo (bambusa textilis gracilis): as above- Buy a 5.4 x 5.4 Sunshade in charcoal and install over paving at front: to protect car and to shade house
Buy a wardrobe: finally- Restore more freecycled furniture
- Re-point: else DIY Dad will start
naggingreminding - Keep up the freecycling: cheap thrillz
Some other goals that are optional and will probably not be achieved in 2011, but one can live in hope (and carry them over into 2012 and beyond):
- Build a tv stand: will post about this one later
Liriope for front gardenWild Iris for front garden- Get stainless steel + sailing wire trellises for out the back and plant with passionfruit
- Shelving for garage
- Solar panels: to make use of abundant resources and for guilt free electricity
- Grey water system to water lawn

[...] I should point out, that it is not that my sister expects to see lawn where previously there were weeds and bare sandy patches (this blog is partially written for her benefit, after all); nor will she not love me if there is no lawn; and large-scale sister related enteraining can occur without a semi-verdant lawn. But I want there to be lawn for her visit…and maybe even bamboo. [...]
