Or my lawn. In spite of my ongoing attempts to rescuscitate the lawn of the dead to realise a New Year’s Houseolution in time for the impending arrival of my VIP house guests, things did not progress much. And when I say “things,” I actually mean “that lawn seed needed to pull its socks up because I am doing my part to meet the deadline”.
Two days into my guests visit, the lawn looked like a middle aged man who is still trying to pretend he doesn’t have a hair loss problem:
To be fair, it wasn’t really the lawns fault – we had another hot, dry summer. While our English visitors were over we had a really hot and humid spell. What with that and sprinkler restrictions, I think they understood why they were greeted with alot of very bare patches and some tenacious bits of green just hanging in there to say hello.
On the plus side, I now have all of winter to add luscious topsoil, reseed and attempt to coax it back into life so it can re-establish long before the heat of summer hits.
On the downside, autumn in Perth has been very dry and winter promises more of the same, so it might still be a challenge to get full coverage from where it is now:
