Exciting Times

Super excited because yesterday I received some seed packets c/o the Garden Goddess.

  • Tamarillo aka Tree Tomato: I don’t think many people in Western Australia eat this one as I have yet to run into someone who eats them. It’s probably a “family thing” from my Dad’s NSW childhood that he brought over to WA.
  • Bush Tomato: Australian native food plant, bush tucker. It mainly grows in deserts, so it may not grow here. But I am going to try.
  • Quandong (aka Wild Peach):  West Australian native food plant, bush tucker. This grows in the wild up in the area where my parent’s beachhouse is. They bought and built almost 30 years ago. As the town has grown, I have seen less of the plants – but I also don’t go out all day exploring as I did when I was a kid. The kernels are amazing to look at (you sometimes see them used in jewellry and there are some amazeballs Quandong Recipes). If I can’t get them to grow in Perth, I will plant some at the beachhouse.
